Any word on the team? I thought it would be named last night.

Bill Cooper in the forward line? It might be a stroke of genius, but when he played midfield, he was often a safe outlet for backs under pressurer.

I'd agree with you. I think midfield is too light for Sunday. I think it's Bill's best position. He brings a bit of steel both defensively and in attack. Meade is a bit unlucky not to start. IMO Cadogan is fortunate to start again at fullback, I think he is a long way off intercounty standard. It will be interesting to see Tim at No6 again as the more time he gets there the more he'll benefit from it.

Happy enough with this team. I think Conor Sull has got the nod over Spillane because Sully is our first choice for the sweeper role. Glad the rest of the back 6 and goalie were retained as they all deserved another look.
Midfield is unchanged as well but I see Bill Cooper playing a deep role as a third midfielder which will give Kearney and Fitzgibbon a licence to attack from deep.
Happy to see Robbie O'Flynn get another run as like all the new faces from the last time I felt he earned it.

Kieran Kingston did something similar last year by rewarding good performance from debutants in the league with another run and it led to several new faces in our championship squad. Hopefully a few can do the same again this year because competition for places and strength in depth are going to be very important as the year progresses.

Looking forward to Sunday now and a very different challenge to what Kilkenny presented. Not looking forward to the long trip there and back and a trip to Ennis to follow in a few weeks but such is life. If we can pull off an away win a quarter final place will be almost guaranteed and relegation avoided and the trip home will fly by.

Cooper will play his usual role of connecting the half-back line with the lads in front of him. It doesn't matter the slightest where he is named.

Bit taken a back by how poor we were, completely outhurled from the 20th minute on, only for Lehane in the first half we could have been buried beyond 10 points, how we lost by only 4 ill never know, lots of work ahead
