With Kennedy and O'Donovan at the top table, surely we can dream of democratic structures after 40 years of dictatorship !

While its disappointing for some of the other candidates who would be seen to be antiestablishment, its a massive step that KOD got in and comfortable enough too. The only thing im wondering is how Richard Murphy got 250 odd votes verses a obviously superior candidate in O'Donovan.
But overall, its a result and Frank is the equivalent of a dead man walking

Murphy would have the establishment vote + a fair number from the city also.
That's why KOD was anxious about the vote Tip.
Anyway, agree with you..... The beginning of the end for that shower.

I see Nemo's motion that was ruled out on a technicality by the county board was passed by Wexford and is on the clár for Congress. Nemo not happy that it was ruled out.

Our new chairperson spoke against a similar motion in 2009 when she was a delegate.

This was never going to get past the CCB. Glad it's on the clár for Congreaa. It's democracy, and nobody should stand in the way of democracy.

Derek Kavanagh -

“Yesterday in Florida, there was a vote on gun laws. It was a very sensitive topic, but the votes are in black and white. We in the GAA want darkness and cover and, to me, that shows that there is a real problem. What is there to hide?”

Frank Murphy is quoted in Wednesday's Examiner as being opposed to the motion - quelle surprise - and as saying the following

“We know where this motion is coming from and we shouldn’t report it.”

If this quote is true it strikes me as a County Secretary who doesn't have a vote on our Executive or at CCB Meetings speaking about opposing a motion that promotes democracy and further suggesting that democracy be further beaten down by not even reporting it, and finishing up by openly stating that the originator(s) of the idea is somehow relevant to its merits, that personal politics is somehow as important or more important than the job he is being handsomely paid to do.

If he did say the above sentence, taking it in isolation and forgetting all his other actions down the years, it would be an appalling statement. Utterly appalling.
