A good double header in PUR Saturday night, not for the brilliance of football mind you but for the excitement the games provided with both semi finals going right down to the wire.

The first game between Michael's and Eire Og was one of the best finishes i have seen to a game in a long while. After a poor first half, Eire Og started the second much stronger with a goal to go 5 up. Credit to Michael's they battled backed to go ahead in the 57th minute for the first time since the 7th. Michael's 3 points up with only seconds remaining conceded a penalty which was superbly saved by the Michael's keeper to deny Goulding. Michael's advance to their fourth final in six years.

The second in truth was a very poor standard of football, mainly due to N.Aban defensive structure. The scoreline was nip and tuck right the way through the game, and like the first semi came down to the wire, when Naomh missed a fantastic goal chance to win it. In truth though, Fermoy looked the better footballing side and probably deserved to progress. They too, like Michael's have lost a decider in the past. Unfortunately again, for one of these teams, they will suffer the same faith.

I fancy Michael's however to get they're day of glory eventually. They look a good side playing a higher standard of football all year. And that save from Goulding's penalty could be the defining moment.

How many finals have Michaels's lost in recent years..3 is it?

And a tough grade to keep getting back to finals.

I was checking the league standings in Kerry to see what Fermoy and Dromtarriffe are up against.
Kilcummin are 2nd in D2 while the junior club Beaufort are in D1. So the junior club play at a higher level than the intermediate!
