Tough draw. The best time to catch Tipp is in the first round but after losing both first round games the last two years they will be wanting to set that straight. Home support for Cork will be vital. Next up will be the All Ireland Champions first game out and no doubt will be a sell out in the Gaelic Grounds. Away to Clare could be another sell out playing in front of a hostile crowd. The home games proved vital for all counties this year and next year will be no different.

Nothing easy as usual. Away trips to the AI champions and a Clare team that improved as the year went on. Home to Tipp and Waterford who will have new managers and will be out to atone for a bad 2018.
Cork could easily finish bottom as well as top; there is so little between the teams.

Praise for Jamie Wall...hopefully he keeps going with his development and progresses to one of our County teams in the future!

I'm aware this could as easily have gone into the football topic, went with hurling as that's the code in question...

Wall gave me my chance - Gillane

Limerick star Aaron Gillane says he “can’t talk highly enough” of Mary I manager Jamie Wall and what he’s done for his career.

Since earning Fitzgibbon Cup silverware with his college side in 2016, Gillane has went on to win All-Ireland honours with his county at U21 and senior level and says he’s “definitely benefited” from the confidence Wall shown in him two years ago.

“I can't talk highly enough of that man to be honest with you and what he's done for me personally,” Gillane said at the launch of PwC’s All-Stars app.

“It was him that gave me my chance. It would have been very easy to throw in someone else, especially with all the star-studded names we had.

“He just threw me onto the field and said, 'Take the shackles off. Don't be worrying about who's around you or who's marking you. There's no pressure on you. Everyone's going to be worrying about the big names'. So I think that definitely benefited me as well.

“As well as being a good coach he's a very good man manager as well. The time and effort he puts into coaching it's a testament to the things he's won.”

This time of year again brings up the same old chestnut.on PROC. Cooper wouldn't get on the Kilkenny team so he should be replace for next year.. What BS! If he decides to give us another year, he starts simple as. Anyone that was at the county semi will know he's the best midfielder we have. As JBM said to me during the year Bill is captain of that team in all but name.

Cooper is vital for cork, however 2019 is a new year and it would be great if new players introduced into the panel would create real competition for places, this year we were playing with the bare 15 and it caught up with us. Either way it.would take a massive drop off in form for Cooper or to start for cork in championship next year
