Just reading up on some reports from elsewhere and it appears it was a mixed bag from a Cork players perspective. Deccy Dalton did well and can be a handful, id like to see more of him going forward. Griffin and O Callaghan did well. Playing UCC next Sunday.
The rest of the Cork players were doing physical training on the other pitch in Mallow last night

I went to the game last night, among apparently 2,000 other hardy souls..just to get to see some live hurling again and kickstart the thought process for the new season. Mallow GAA Club is a fantastic complex and a welcoming venue, but a disaster traffic-wise to get to,in, and out of.

Didn't have many expectations for the game itself and got exactly what I expected. It was a game with little shape and and even less meaning. With 15 mins to go you could sense both teams just wanted to get in out of the cold. A few players on both sides filled their jerseys...whether it was bulk or real bulk or just a good Christmas.

Saw nothing new or inspiring regards Cork...Dalton was prominent - scored frees you would expect him to score, missed a few marginal ones, Cahalane always looked to get involved at midfield and will be interesting to see how he gets on during the league, Cormac Murphy took a few nice points, Griffin did ok at fullback.

You wouldn't take much away from it...certainly no player stood out and caught the eye to say this is a fella to watch. It was January hurling at its finest!

Canon O Brien Cup

Full Time

UCC 1-23; Cork 1-24

No other details, but they lost this one last year. Decent scoring.

Was just to post Dorcha, very high scoring. We might find a report and teams elsewhere later on, I presume UCC had a high percentage of Cork Seniors themselves
