Ballincollig beat Muskerry by 14 points. It could have been 30 points so meager the Muskerry resistance. A Muskerry team containing a couple of Goulds, a Goulding, Peter Kelleher, Cathal Vaughan.. A team that can pick from two of our better intermediate sides (Macroom and Ballingeary). They offered nothing. Micheal O Laoire, John Corkery and Finance Goold battled away but they were blown away by a very well drilled Ballincollig outfit. They had no weak links. They did as they pleased with the ball. Every kickouts was aimed at their number 12 (George Durant) and alarmingly he won every one of them. with him and Ciaran O:Sullivan back, and with Sean Kiely and Paddy Kelly dominant in they have recovered after their set back against Valleys... Still in with a massive shout..

Avondhu stroll to victory against Illen Rovers for the second year running. The latter are having a desperate season. A victory over St Nicholas will ensure that they remain a senior side though . Something that will do do them and the championship no favors. They have some fine young players but are out of their depth completely.

Padraig Clancy was phenomenal for Avondhu. He has been consistently very good at club level in Cork (as has his brother). No point in suggesting that he get a trial for the county seniors though as he didn't have a good match for Cork seniors in 2010 or one good game for the minors in 2013 which seem to be the prerequisites for inclusion.

Round 4

Clyda Rovers v UCC

Kerry will win this one.

Nemo Rangers v Kiskeam
Nemo. Credit to Kiskeam for what they have achieved but this is definitely a bridge too far.

Valley Rovers v Avondhu
Game of the round for sure. Valley Rovers are now out of the hurling so can concentrate fully on football. Fermoy are out of both intermediate championships. They can dedicate themselves to Avondhu now. Would come down slightly on the side of Valley Rovers. Just. Very much 50/50 though and the only game worth watching in this draw (from a neutral point of view).

Ballincollig v Carrigaline
Ballincollig with a lot to spare.

Bishopstown/St Finbarr's v CIT
Bishopstown are struggling against the weaker premier intermediate sides in the league. There were utterly dismal against Nemo. If Nemo tried, Bishopstown probably wouldn't have scored. Completely out of their depth and should not be in the senior championship.Barrs will have no problem at all with them. CIT will be tougher. You would fancy the Barrs though.

Duhallow a bye

Carbery Rangers a bye

Castlehaven a bye

Can you work out a better system? we had to cater for 26 teams this year and had to give all of them a minimum of 2 games..next season it could be 27, could be 26, could be 29 (Carrigdhoun and Imokily have the right to field teams if they had any interest)..

Don't suggest relegation or regrading the multitude of teams hopelessly out of their depth...we've had that old chestnut..

God only knows how it works. We must have the only championships in the world where we have no idea of how many teams are going to be in it the following year
