2017 junior championships

Postby producer ben » Tue Jan 31, 2017 11:08 am

Looking like we'll have a back door of sorts for the divisional losers with both finalists going through to the county championship. Also as there are only 7 divisions that have hurling championships, it seems that the county board will pick two wildcards to make up the last 16.

I've honestly never heard the likes of it in all my life. A club could be beaten in the second round of a divisional championship and still end up winning the thing. It's open to abuse. I can guarantee now that Freemount definitely won't be getting that wildcard anyway.

This is absolute bullshit. Whatever about the sneaky underhanded way the CCB have thrown this at clubs without telling them until the last minute and disguised in the agenda for tonights meeting, the very fact that a committee will decide who enters a competition is a joke and should be opposed right away. Limerick im led to believe do a similar thing and look what hurling champions they thew out this year. The question that im asking is what is wrong with the current competition and what will this new proposal do for Cork hurling at junior level?

Quite rightly, too. Fair play to those that spoke against this attempted railroading.

At least now clubs can debate properly, instruct their delegates accordingly and we can have a proper vote.

Glad to see that people aren't afraid to stand up in what they believe in. Fair play to the Freemount delegate and others who spoke.
Next meeting is end of February?

Most likely Liscarrol-Churchtown Gaels which is the official name of their new club. They were Liscarrol for football and Churchtown for hurling since 2011. Now they are that longer name for both sports going forward.
