Kilmichael won't be and they've lost James O'Leary as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Ballincollig beat them in the first round.

Certain divisions are being dismissed very easily. A few years ago, Aghabullogue won a county at this level. They won their divisional title after that. They didn't get to play their divisional championship because they were playing hurling. They only started to take the football seriously when the hurling was over, yet still managed to win a county at this level - effectively a hurling team winning it. Cloyne also managed to do the same thing. Courcey Rovers almost managed the same thing. Na Piarsaigh reached a county intermediate final a few years back. There are loads of teams in the junior championship. There are some clubs that put football first but are just at that level. There are other clubs that put hurling first and football is only an afterthought. But this is Junior level and one of them teams could win. Mayfield were terribly badly organized last year - barely able to field teams for League games and are now All-ireland champions. If a team like Bride Rovers, Ballinhassig, Erin's Own, Ballymartle were finished hurling and decided to give football a rattle they would be plenty good enough for this level in this county. It has happened before.

Spot on SpongeBob. Not sure why some divisions are being dismissed so easily. Shamrocks weren't far off last year and by all accounts will be competing again this year. Thrived on being written off last year though so I'd imagine this would come as expected again for the coming year. People keep going on about knocknagree etc but they've never kicked on. Surely the pressure is on them this year to deliver.

Point taken Spongebob but could you see a Ballymartle who would have no football done beating a Kilmurry or an Uibh Laoire who have been football training since the start of the year, twice or three times a week?

A team like Uibh Laoire, Kilmurry should be favorites to win it. I don't dispute that. The issue is with the dismissal of certain teams. Don't dismiss anybody (not saying you have) . Cloyne, Erin's Own, Aghabulluge were 'Ballymartle' type teams. Another one might emerge. This is, after all, a higgledy-piggledy competition for Division 5-10 teams (in terms of how it is run - ie 100 teams of all levels of ability, interest flung together chasing one promotion spot).

If there was a premier junior championship, perhaps it would be fairer on Uibh Laoire, Kilmurry etc. Then we could 'dismiss' the 'Ballymartle' type teams because they would not be in it.

The junior championships are a minefield. Would anyone have picked out the county finalists in both codes last year? Maybe Sars were expected to go far but definitely not the other 3.

Any thoughts who'll be contesting the junior B hurling county this year? Not many teams even left in it at this stage.
