When I was a boy, if somebody told us that Eire óg beat Ballingeary at gaelic football, we would summon the lads with the white coats.
A prominent member of the Eire óg club was recently overheard saying that Kerrymen had taken over his club to the detriment of their
hurling future. Now it looks like they have become another dual club like Valleys, Bandon, Newcestown, Kanturk, not mentioning the city clubs who have the numbers.
Can't see it being good for either discipline as at least 70% of their players will play both.

They're the next Ballincollig, plenty of Kerrymen there too to the detriment of their hurling.

Kerrymen in Eire Og? I do know they have 1 who was on and off the team last year but don't think there's any more or am I understating?

It's not the fault of any imports anyway (point of fact, there are a good few West Cork blow-ins around Ovens too!) as can be plainly seen from the underage strength. Minor footballers won the Premier county last year and have been generally very competitive for a number of years. They will have a strong minor team this year also. I think it's just the way the wind has blown to an extent. It happens. Mullinahone was a football stronghold until John Leahy came along. Things can change quickly in a club.

A lot of Kerrymen and other football men from West Cork involved in Éire Óg.
The round 2's
Na Piarsaigh v Bantry
Macroom v Ballingeary
Nemo/Kanturk v Castletownbere
Naomh Aban bye

Some teams who would have expected to go far in this championship will have a very short summer. Macroom or Béal átha for example.

A very short summer for Ballingeary, one of the stronger teams in the division. A heavy defeat for NAP on Saturday against Bantry. 5-13 to 0-5!

Fermoy with a comfortable win over Kanturk tonight who now set up a repeat of the round 1 tie against Bantry Blues who defeated a fancied Macroom side by 5 points.
Going forward, you would have to fancy Fermoy to come out of this side of the draw, although with this competition, anything goes.
