Full-back position has to be addressed
- our number 3 currently is nowhere close to inter county standard
- he's got plenty opportunities

Not really. The full back line is interchangable. You tend to assign them guys to man mark. Last year Spillane was on Gillane in the semi at full back. Cahalane is fine, suits some forwards better then others and come championship will be positioned accordingly. Wouldn't be surprised to see Spillane come back in against Limerick if Gillane starts.
Murphy Walsh and O Mahoney have given the manager plenty to ponder so far and may have begun to force themselves into his championship plans. I would l i ke to see Murphy get a run at half forward to see how he gets on. He is a high ball option which we could do with. If it works out great, if not maybe Fitzgibbon could move to the half forwards.

UCC to play DCU in Fitzgibbon Semi final. Should be a cracker with two teams loaded with county players. A Fitz win for the Cork lads would be a great boost for them. Likewise Charleville wining for Fitzgibbon.
Chris O'leary by all accounts had a solid game again. This lad should be given another shot. Wing back is clearly his position, and scored four long range frees. Griffin also played so reports of him needimg surgery musnt be true. Both players should be given a run out in the remainder of the league. If they reach the final on 23rd there are only two games left for Cork. Limerick on the 24th and Tipp on 2nd March. So realistically it would be the last game v Tipp as we don't look like going any further.

Some great hurling on show in UCC vDCU semi finals given the conditions. Gone to extra time. Bad news for Cork with Michael O Hanlon gone off injured early in the game. Other cork lads playing well. Fitzgibbon came on and hit three wides you'd expect him to score. Could be still feeling the loss of All Ireland.

Smash and grab by UCC! Chris O leary with a late late (and badly struck) penalty. They got a bit of luck with a dodgey point given and a soft penalty at the very end. Credit too them tho they kept fighting for the whole game against a star studded DCU team (and bench).
The Cork contingent done very well with O'leary and Kingston getting vital scores. Niall O'leary done very well in the corner made some vital blocks and hooks. Griffin and E Murphy both had solid outings as did Gunning at FB who had the tough task of marking kilkennys Billy Ryan (who roasted Connor ó Sullivan).
Coleman was quite in comparison with his usual games but he was playing in flodded midfield and was harder for him to cut loose. He scored a peach of a point on the wing and the way he was able to pick the ball and dance out of trouble was brilliant.
Fitzgibbon hit a few wides but getting over an injury and an All Ireland loss is bound to effect him. he might not have got a run if was on the DCU team given the players they had, but UCC needed him.
Bar Kingston Corks forwards were less in the game. O'Halloran went off with a hamstring early replaced by Evan Sheehan who made no impact. Have to mention Conway from Kerry. What a player, got on a world of ball, scored some great points and set up more. Any chance we can claim him!

I heard Colm Spillane is having his operation today, could be out for up to 10 weeks. Team will be named after training on Friday night
