Mooney of the 17-yellow-cards-the-last-day-out fame to ref the minor final. And we weren't even moaning in advance.

What in the name of harry are you on about
Anyone who was at the Cork-Roscommon match could see that he didn't do a great job of it and was card-happy, brandishing, as noted on these pages, 8 yellow cards over one incident alone. This is not reassuring for the final.
I’m glad to see this. Our lads are a good footballing side and it is important that the ref ensures that they are given the protection they deserve to display their full range of skills. Galway will be worried as they must have a lot of big strong physical lads if they beat Kerry.
Mooney was very poor in refereeing the Cork-Roscommon match. The yellow cards were not brandished for malicious play up to the time of the melee when players' frustrations boiled over. Why is being petty in your refereeing of a match a good thing and something to be "glad of"? Would you not prefer a top-drawer referee, of the stature of Gough, in charge, where a Cork player might not get a sending off for two soft yellow cards?
TwoHands' final sentence has convinced me his tongue was firmly in his cheek.
True. The outcome of that final is now in the lap of the Gods.
