Cork Minor Hurlers 2019

Postby tipp-ex » Fri May 10, 2019 4:37 pm

Playing Tipperary at 2pm before the Seniors. This group won the Tony Forrestal and the Carrigdhoun/Teddy Hanley Tournament at U15 but went off the boil last year. I seem to recall the Minors playing a lot of these fellas last year in preparation for this year. Any idea how they're shaping up? Is Considine over them?

The Cork Minor Hurling team to play Tipperary on Sunday has been announced

Cork lead 2-8 to 0-10 @ HT. Jack Cahalane with both goals, he scored the footballers goal during the week as well, knows where tie net is anyway

Cork 2-27, Tipp 1-18. You have to be impressed with that. 2-23 from play, 0-19 in the second half. Good start

Fair play to them; they hurled themselves out of tiny spots of bother all during the game. The only worry is that when Tipp wanted a goal late in the second half, and set themselves to it, they got it.

HT Limerick 0-9, Cork 1-5.
Early goal from Darragh Flynn but Cork gone totally out of the game since, played against a wind but still, big improvement needed in 2nd half

Draw game 1-16 to 0-19.

We'll take it cause Cork were totally out of the game for the middle 40 minutes. Good resilance shown to come back from 5 points down with about 10 minutes left, Darragh Flynn last minute monster free to level it. The point could be invaluable going forward

The minors had to dig deep in this one. After a bright start, Limerick got on top for a long time. Before Cork could steady the ship, so to speak, they were behind and struggling to catch up. But they kept playing and fully deserved the draw.

The slower striking and the amount of block-downs in the game, showed the big difference between under-18 and under-17.

Cork 0-19, Waterford 1-13. A much better second half from Cork after a lethargic first half. Doing just enough in their last 2 games, come across as a little bit inconsistent.

By the way, best wishes to Paudie Palmer in his recovery
