The overcarrying business is happening anyway because referees choose not to penalise the brief fouls of a jersey tug or a restraining hand. Give a free for those and then it will be easy to give a free for overcarrying.

I reckon they knew Gough was going to get it and their media mafia were not trying to force a u-turn but just wanted to get inside his head. It has probably worked as he will definitely be influenced on a subconscious level. Distasteful stuff but anything goes at this stage.

Spot on, CfP. Whether Gough got the final or not, the Kerry Examiner mafia have done as good as they could have hoped for.

Referees, by their nature, are self assured and 'thick' in an unbreakable sort of way. Even if it doesn't backfire, they've made a bit of a show of themselves and it might get worse yet, with a (fairly flimsy looking) protest being planned for Fitzgerald stadium on Sunday. Get the popcorn out, I say.

Part of the targeting of Gough was to get inside his head, the other part was to assist in sorting out the "injustice" of O'Brien missing the final over the next few days.

Explains how the Healy Raes are true representatives of their flock. None of them far removed from the 'Túatha de Dannan'
Yerra sure tis great to see the hoors self distruct and make proper pilliks out of themselves.

O'Brien would have got off regardless but maybe it sped up the process alright!

I think Jim Gavin will be delighted that the attention is on some Kerry grievances rather than his side's drive for five.

They don't have a 100% record for nothing. :)

Ciaran Whelan summed it up neatly in today's Indo: 'A great act of double bluff cute hoorism. You can't keep up with Kerry when it comes to it'. All of which was facilitated by Tony Leen's Examiner.
